Vendor Reviews

Venue - Mansion at Valley Country Club, A

My venue was amazing, absolutely beautiful! The staff there was so friendly! They were constantly asking Dave & I if we needed anything and always made sure we got served first.  They also had one waiter dedicated to following around the BP to bring them drinks so they didn't need to go wait at the bar. The ballroom was stunning and held our number of guests (125) comfortably.  There were a few bumps with Debbie the venue coordinator along the way (e-mail me for details) but I had a DOC to ensure on the day of everything went off without a hitch. I was worried about the food since it did not come with a tasting but we served the Filet and Crab Cake and it was to die for! The passed appetizers were also all delicious!  I would give the venue an A+ but the coordination a B... just get everything in writing, everything!!

Officiant - Rabbi Stan Levin, A+

Rabbi Stan was absolutely great to work with.  His motto throughout the whole planning process is “this is your wedding, not mine”.  He never tried to force us to do anything we didn’t feel comfortable with and he was able to add any traditions we wanted to include, even if they weren’t traditionally “Jewish”.  He even added an element of light comedy to the ceremony which our guests loved.  He made sure to explain all of the customs for our non-Jewish guests so they wouldn’t be confused.  After the wedding we had a lot of complements on his service!

Day of Coordinator - Entertain Me Event Planning - Heidi, A+

I can not stress enough how grateful I am that I decided to use Heidi for the day of.  I did not have to think or worry about a thing.  Anytime I had to be somewhere she told me a few minutes in advance.  When I got to the venue that morning we were running a few minutes late and she had everything ready to roll when we got there! She was so helpful during the planning process (kept me calm if I started to get worked up about something) and went to my final walkthrough at the venue and helped me work out some issues with my venue coordinator.  She definitely went above and beyond!

Photographer - Tender Images, A+

We only met with 1 photog and knew Matt was the guy for us.  He made DH feel so comfortable at our first meeting that we booked him right away for our e-pics.  He drove to OC to meet us at the beach at 6:30 AM to catch the sunrise after shooting a wedding the night before!  They came out great!  Then the day of the wedding I was so glad to have them there (Kenny was our 2nd photographer).  Having them around kept everything so laid back and casual.  They were constantly joking around and making everyone laugh! He also brought a beautiful matted e-pic for our guests to sign the matting which was really nice to have! We got our online proofs back about 3 weeks after the wedding and they were fully edited in photoshop.  Matt did some beautiful work and I love all of the pictures! Plus his prices are so affordable considering how inclusive his package is!  I highly recommend them!

Videographer - Buerhaus Designs - Matt Buerhaus - A+ (Pending video...)

Again I don’t have the final product back but we booked Matt at the last minute (less than 1 month out!) and he was very accommodating, worked with our budget (adjusted his package to cut out the things we really didn’t need), and was very responsive by e-mail.  He stayed for the whole day and I barely knew he was there! I am really excited to see the final product and I will update my review once I see the video!

Cake - Mary Elliott, A+

Our cake was as beautiful as I had imagined and tasted even better! We got 3 flavors and got to try all 3.  We had so many compliments on how delicious and moist the cake was! Her prices were great and I think we are going to eat our top tier and then have her re-create it for our 1 year anniversary, just because it is that good.  I highly recommend her! She works out of her home but if you want her contact info just ask the Baltimore board b/c she is a board favorite!

Florist - Flowers by Judy, A+

Judy is such a doll to work with! I was probably the most difficult bride ever b/c I had no idea what I wanted for flowers.  She took my very vague ideas and ran with them and I almost cried on the day of when I saw my bouquet.  All I knew is I loved orchids and they were everywhere! Centerpieces, Bouquet, Chuppah, Cake! And she did it all for about $400 less than our budget and a quote we had from another vendor.  Plus she did not hold us to the initial quote (it ended up going down a bit when we ended up having fewer tables and she was okay with that – other florists make you spend a minimum).  I highly recommend her!

Ceremony Musicians - St. Charles String Quartet, A+

Neil was great to work with, unfortunately I only heard what they were playing while I was walking down and back up the aisle but my guests told me how great they sounded.  DH was so excited that he got to walk back up the aisle to Guns N Roses Sweet Child of Mine!  They can play absolutely anything if you ask them enough in advance.  I can’t wait to hear the wedding video so I can hear more of them play! I highly recommend them!

Band - Millennium, A++++

I have to give them multiple ++ because they were just amazing.  They started performing during dinner and played a great selection of acoustic songs that wasn’t too loud and then as soon as dinner was over they just rocked out for 4 consecutive hours.  They never took a break and there was not a minute they didn’t have people on the dance floor.  Our wedding would not have been as awesome as it was without them.  I didn’t even give them a must play/not play list and they didn’t play a single song I didn’t like (no chicken dance or electric slide, etc).  They were more like a concert than a wedding band.  Our guests are still raving about them and all night were asking me “How did you find them!?!”  We used John @ Washington Talent and he was great to work with as well and even provided us 1 hour of piano for our cocktail hour at no additional charge.  They weren’t cheap, but they were worth every penny!!

Photobooth - Atlantic Studios, A+

This was such a hit! The best part is it came with duplicates of everyones pictures as well as a guest book that everyone could sign so after the wedding we got to sit down and flip through it.  Some were hilarious! We also got all of the images on CD to make duplicate copies if we want to.  My only regret was not being able to spend more time in the booth with our friends! This doubled as our party favor and everyone loved having the b&w photo strip to take home at the end of the night.

Hair/Makeup - Julie Glass/Brittani Smith, A+

Julie & Brittani work at Lluminaire Salon in Towson but came to the hotel the day of to do everyones hair and make up.  All of my girls looked gorgeous! My only request was that no one end up with “bad prom hair” and Julie stuck to that!  I had no idea about makeup and didn’t do a trial run but Brittani did a great job on everyone that wanted makeup done (I didn’t require it).  My girls makeup was very natural and mine was also natural, but with a more dramatic eye which I loved! It came out great in pictures!  E-mail me for contact info if you are interested, they were great!

Bridal Salon - Scher's in Pocomoke City, B

We ordered my dress, the bridesmaid's dresses and the MOB dress from them! They have a pretty large selection in store and can order from a lot of different designers if you found a dress somewhere else.  Their customer service is not "wow"ing but it really all depends on who you get.  The owner, Mark, and one of the associates, Becca, have been really helpful!  Mark calls me all the time with updates on the status and was even able to get the MOB dress to come in early for us!  Their prices are great (BM dresses were the same price on Netbride as they were in the store) and they include free alterations if you order your bridal gown there on any dresses/tuxes ordered.  It is crazy around prom time but they have a separate section to give the brides more room.  Kathy was great when it came to alterations and even did my mom's alterations overnight since she was in from OOT to pick the dress up!

Paper Products

CardsandPockets.com - Quick shipping, look for when things are on sale because they change their sale items monthly.  Their regular prices were a little high but it was cheaper overall for me to order everything from them and combine shipping.  The quality was great and their pocket folders were very well constructed! Definitely worth paying to have them pre-assembled.
Envelopemall.com - I ordered metallic stardream envelopes here and they were great quality and the prices were excellent! Quick shipping as well.

Veil - my friend Jaclyn, A+

She is a seamstress and offered to do the veil for me.  I told her what I was looking for and she nailed it.  She did it in less than a week.  She told me I am allowed to give out her name and number if anyone is interested!  Plus – the same veil cost about $150 more in a bridal salon b/c mine had rhinestones on it.  It was beautiful!  Page me for contact info!

Jewelry - etsy.com - somsstudiosupplies, A+

I contacted Som after a referral from knottie Merica111 and she was able to recreate the exact BM necklace I wanted and matching earrings for almost half the price as what the original necklace would have been from another retail website.  I waited until the last minute to order it before the wedding and she got it to me with plenty of time to spare!!
